The goals of AND ONE Basketball Club are to produce outstanding basketball players, as well as developing character, discipline and a strong work ethic. This is achieved through detailed skill development, organized and competitive practices, intense competition and a team-centered mentality.

The AND ONE Basketball family of coaches has in common, a passion for the game, experience in playing and coaching basketball at the highest levels and complete dedication to its players.

By instilling good habits and basketball fundamentals in our young athletes, we are preparing them for more than just success on the hardwood.

And One Basketball Club Coaches and Staff

David Cohen - Director of Basketball Operations

Coach Cohen brings the unique balance of decorated player and accomplished coach to youth basketball.

As a player,Cohen was a member of the United States Youth Games Team. From there he continued his career at Montclair Immaculate where he scored over 1200 points, and was a 2 time Star Ledger All Essex County performer, as well as 2 time Colonial Hills Conference Player of the Year.

In 2010, Coach Cohen was inducted into the Montclair Immaculate Hall of Fame for his athletic accomplishments.

Following high school, Coach Cohen was a 4 year starter for Division III national power Virginia Wesleyan College. During his collegiate career, Cohen amassed over 350 assists which ranks 3rd All Time for career assists at the college.

For the past 16 years, Cohen has been coaching on both the Boys and Girls Varsity levels in New Jersey with stops at the Montclair Kimberley Academy, Cedar Grove, and now Livingston. In 2012, Cohen guided Livingston to their first conference title in over 30 years.During those stints, Coach Cohen has earned the Star Ledger Coach of the Year Award in 2002, and the Colonial Hills Conference Coach of the Year Award in 2008.

Coach Cohen’s coaching philosophy focuses on building a foundation of superior confidence through repetition and practice. With confidence and commitment, the sky is the limit.

Patty Kaes – Girls Director

With an equally distinguished playing and coaching career, Coach Kaes brings both experience and leadership to the youth basketball level.

As a player, Kaes starred locally for Hanover Park High School where she earned All-Conference, All- County, and All-State recognitions. She was honored as the Morris County Player of the Year by the Daily Record during the 1985-86 season. Following high school, Coach Kaes continued her career at Big Ten power Penn St. University where she was a guard on the team.

As a coach, Kaes brings a wide range of experience to the program ranging from the AAU level to the collegiate level. On the collegiate level, she was an assistant at Montclair State University where she worked with the guards and assisted in player recruitment. Her time on the youth level was spent on skill development as well as coaching AAU with the Hoop Heaven Heat.

As a high school coach, she has achieved a tremendous amount of success with stops at Parsippany Hills High School, where she led the program to a State Sectional Championship, as well as her current role in developing players as the head Varsity coach at Livingston High School.

Coaches and Training Staff

Reggie Johnson

As a player, Coach Johnson excelled on both the basketball court and football field for Immaculate Conception High School. Following high school, Coach Johnson went on to have a stand out career at Montclair State University. At MSU, Coach Johnson’s leadership guided MSU to 4 straight winning seasons.

Coach Johnson served as a high school coach at East Orange High School, and currently on the AAU Hoops circuit in NJ. He is respected amongst his peers as one of the great young motivators of the game.

In the summer, coach Johnson is a director of the And One Basketball Camp.

Scott Cohen

Coach Scott Cohen brings over 10 years of coaching experience to AND ONE. As a varsity assistant on the girls side, Coach Cohen was instrumental in leading the Livingston High School girls team in the early 2000’s to the final four of the Essex County Tournament. His role on that team was influential in the development of many of the top players from that squad. After giving up high school coaching, Coach Cohen dedicated the last 3 years to individual skill development in small group and personal basketball training. In this role, he continues to focus on fundamental skill training which is the foundation to a players success. Coach currently serves as an AAU coach and Travel Basketball coach locally.

John Waddon

Coach Waddon brings nearly 30 years of experience to the And One Team. In the mid-eighties Coach Waddon was the head boys basketball coach at Livingston High School where he gained a still present reputation amongst his peers as one of the best “x’s and o’s” coaches around. Always well prepared and detail oriented, Coach Waddon is an exceptional motivator for the youth level. His overall experience includes:

  • Head Varsity Coach – Livingston High School
  • Assistant Varsity Coach – Livingston High School
  • Director of Basketball Instruction – Hanover Township
  • Head Coach of both Middle School and Travel level teams
  • Director of Youth Basketball in both Whippany and Livingston

Brian Cohen

Coach Cohen’s brings energy and passion for the game to the And One Basketball Club. With a wide range of experience that includes 16 years on the high school level, 4 years as a student assistant on the Division I Collegiate level, and over a decade as a youth coach, Coach Cohen is more than qualified to direct players on the youth level on improving their game. Coach Cohen’s resume includes:

  • Assistant Varsity/JV Coach at West Orange High School
  • Assistant Coach – Montclair Immaculate High School
  • Student Assistant Coach – University of Rhode Island (under Al Skinner currently at Boston College)
  • Director of Youth Basketball – Livingston Recreation

Dave Mead

Coach Mead brings over 15 years of coaching experience to And One. Coach Mead is recognized in Northern New Jersey as one of the game's most knowledgeable sources and has had a tremendous rapport with all of the athletes he has worked with. In 2010, in leading Boonton High School to their most successful season in school history, Mead was named the Morris County Coach of the Year by the Morris Daily Record. Coach Mead’s experience includes:

  • Varsity Head Coach –Boonton High School
  • Varsity Head Coach – Livingston High School

Coach Mead is also a highly respected history teacher at Livingston High School and serves as the Varsity Assistant Coach for the Lancer Softball Team.

Jim McPherson

Coach “Mac” came to NJ a few years ago after growing up and coaching in Missouri. In his time here, he has entrenched himself on the youth basketball circuit as both a clinician and coach in Essex, Morris, and Bergen county. He is a preacher of fundamental basketball as well as the importance of practicing and training with a purpose. His experience prior to Livingston includes:

  • Head Basketball Instructor – Brunswick, MO
  • Director of Drills and Skillz Basketball Clinic
  • Head Coach – Mountain Wave All Starz AAU

Chris Belcuore

Coach Belcuore brings exceptional leadership and motivational skills to AND ONE. After being a standout varsity 3 sport high school athlete at Livingston High School in the late 80’s, Belcuore was inducted to the Livingston High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments this past fall.

Following high school, Coach Belcuore continued to Montclair State University where he was a 4 year starter on the football team. Belcuore is now an educator in the Newark Public School System which has enabled him to get involved as a coach. Besides coaching the AAU teams, Coach Belcuore runs a basketball recreational league for girls during the winter.
